I HAVE A 235 AND THE DRIVE PULLEY APPEARS TO BE FROZE UP. IT IS THE PULLEY WHICH SITS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MOTOR. ENGINE STILL RUNS FINE BUT TRACTOR WILL NOT MOVE. I CAN FORCE THE PULLEY TO TURN WITH MY HANDS AND A LOT OF PRESSURE. WHAT DO YOU GUYS SUGGEST IS THE PROBLEM AND THE FIX. THANKS, BRETT
Brett, the pulley should have a square key that drives it. It just sits in the keyway of the crankshaft and the keyway in the pulley. Can't imagine how it could shear into in that application but it is possible. Also if you have taken the electric clutch off, the key may have fallen out. The clutch and it's retaining bolt hold the drive pulley in place.
Remove the belt and the pulley to see what's going on. Hope the crankshaft has not been damaged with the loose pulley.
The pulley on the trans is splined and the splines in the pulley will wear out and slip. A new pulley will fix it. the shaft in the trans is harder and I haven't ever seen one bad. But you are saying the motor pulley isn't turning? Haven't ever seen that.
