332 that I picked up a couple weeks ago.

A couple weeks ago I run across a 332 Diesel Lawn tractor on Craigslist. A local veterinarian had owned it for the last 18 years. He had bought it used from a Kubota dealer after the original owner traded it in. The hour meter showed 214 hours but had stopped working. He claims he hadn't it used much for some time since he bought a Zero Turn mower. He said it run and would mow grass but didn't cut very well. He also mentioned the obvious referring to it needing some tires. Other than that he said it run very good. He wanted $1200 for it and I offered him $1000 and he said OK.
I got it home and unloaded it and went on vacation for a week and a half. When I got back I looked it over and made a list of the things that I either wanted for it or things that it needed. The list of things that I bought for it included:

    1. Seat
    2. Cutting blades
    3. Mower deck idle pulley spring
    4. Four Tires
    5. Steering wheel spinner
    6. A later model two part air filter with an Air Filter Minder
    7. New fuel gauge/filler cap
    8. Battery hold down hardware
    9. Operators Manual
    10. Factory Service Manual
    11. PTO Switch

I still need to order a hour meter and a sensor for the low fuel light. After having it for a couple days it wouldn't start. What I found was a bad PTO switch that was keeping it from starting.
After getting it I had to grease the fittings and adjust the brakes. Other than what I mentioned it needs some paint but that's down the road a ways.

Here are some photos of it. Tell me what you think about it for the price.

That's a very nice 332, especially for the price.

Welcome to the Smelly Rattling Yanmar Club!

The big things to look for and mitigate:

-- Cooling system. Clean, flush repair as necessary

-- Frame cracks. Sometimes up front and sometimes around the brake pedal pivots.
    -- Engine motor mounts.
    -- Tranny cross member.

Can't think of too much else off the top of my head. Once again, welcome to the smelly, noisy world of Yanmar diesels.

Thank you. This time last year I bought a JD 330 for $600 on Craigslist. I used it all summer for trimming around trees. The majority of my four acres is cut with my JD 3039R tractor with a mid mount mower. The only money I spent on the 330 for parts was for a Glow plug controller. I posted some photos on this site of it after I got it home last year.

Very nice!! Question, how do like the steering wheel spinner on the hydraulic steering where the steering wheel never ends up in the same place? Drove me crazy trying to keep the steering wheel Deere emblem orientated when I first got my 318.

It's not much of a problem on this lawn tractor but it does drive me crazy on my JD 3039R. The spinner works great for maneuvering around trees which is what I primarily use this one and my 330 for.

You lucky pup...wish there were more Yanmar JD machines down here that I could coax back to the shop. Enjoy.

I forgot to mention it came with two rear wheel 75 pound plastic coated weights. I took them off and don't plan on using them. The plastic on one of them is damaged but they are usable.
Anyone live near northwest Arkansas interested in them? If so make me an offer.

Should I run the low viscosity transmission fluid in my 332? I heard when they first came out the recommendation was ford type F. I’m thinking they say to run low viscosity so the trans burns thinking you will buy a new tractor is this true?
