Sweet...so the learning to chase cats thing is already covered at home. You can focus on the real skills...shop and fishing stuff.

Today I finished the 3rd tier of drywall and added some insulation so I can heat that section of the building. I need heat to dry the mud needed in the tier2/tier3 seam under the floor joist header. Hoping to get that done tomorrow. Area temps are supposed to be in the mid 40's this weekend so prime time to get the seam mudded.

Today I got the first layer of mud on seam that will be behind the header. Tomorrow I will add second layer. Hopefully this will be all that is required so plaster can cure by Tuesday so I can begin installing loft.

After drywall work I finished installing stryofoam under the lower "purlins" in the shop area. Contractor left 7" under the purlin all the way around the building to account for 2" styrofoam for pex tubing heat and 5" of concrete on top of the styrofoam. Vertical pieces I just installed will insulate the concrete from outside (loss of heat). I did the same thing with my garage in town. Garage however is stick built on top of footings and foundations. With insulation complete and torpedo heat set on 30,000 btu setting I had temperature up to 70°F.

Tomorrow after adding second layer of mud I plan to start locating headers so floor is level. I have not figured out ladder to access loft. Plan now is to install an 4' x 4' electric lift (elevator) in the southeast corner.

2nd coat of mud is on the wall and is drying good. I should be able to put up the loft headers tomorrow except I have to take Laurie to doctors appointment. Don't know if I will get to the property. If not I have work to do to finish up the model 49 I am restoring. Time for some more photos.

Spent part of today cleaning up so I can get to the walls to work on the loft.

Still a little dampness in the mud. I can see with full screen size photos. Started installing headers for loft flooring. Snow predicted for tomorrow so unsure if I will get to the property. Warm weather is melting snow and getting muddy at the property. Yesterday 46°F I was walking around outside with T-shirt.

No work yesterday. One more minor thing to do with the header boards and then I will be ready to install floor joists and decking. Slow going with only one person working. I have to figure out how to lift/support materials to get them level/square before I can anchor them. I am getting there but slowly.

No work on the building again today. I need to put together another shopping list before this weekend and get materials collected. I know I need insulation, construction adhesive, latex caulk, and I need to check out cost and availability of fire doors for fire wall.

Finally got down to the property to do some more wok on the shop.

    • The headers are up and elevator opening is frame in.
    • All the floor joists are hung but I need to finish nailing up the hangers and joists. I nailed just enough to hold everything in place and support the plywood to be nailed down for flooring.
    • Oldest son helped finish hanging joists and lifting 3/4" T&G plywood up onto the floor joists.
    • Electrician called this morning all they will be down week of the 16th to install lights and wiring for overhead doors.

I decided to take 32" (two floor joists 13" O.C.) off the length of the loft. Original length was excessive and did not leave enough open area to 16' ceiling. Property work schedule is piling up on me. I have flooring and wall coverings to complete before electrician shows up. I have an errand to run tomorrow morning and babysit youngest grandson in the afternoon. Can work Sunday but Monday and Tuesday are full with other scheduled events. Work on 318 and model 49 rebuild have stopped but hopefully a couple hours in the morning/evenings may be available Monday/Tuesday. And one of these days the Greenhouse is going to beckon me.

I'll try to get more photos Sunday.

Didn't get to the property till after 1:00 today so did not get much done. Left side of floor joists complete and ready to start laying plywood flooring.

I did not know 4 ft tongue & groove plywood is not 48" wide. Measures about 1/4" shy of 48". May cause some extra work around elevator opening.
