Well the old engine isn’t giving up the drive pulley easily, so I think I’m done for the night. Gonna let it soak and try again tomorrow.

This motor is tired!!! It might be salvageable with a .030” slug, but we’ll see. It ain’t gonna be a planter until I get it apart to measure it.

It definitely has! Not sure how many hours it has, but I put 150 on it since I got it. I can fit a .025” feeler gauge between the piston and cylinder wall. I can’t wait for the seals to show up to put the new engine together!

Turns out the spare engine I picked up has an 1-1/8” crank, so I’ll need to reuse my crank. Thankfully everything in my original engine is in good shape besides the block. I should’ve taken a picture, because I am sold on the Toro All Season synthetic oil I’ve been using. The inside of the block was amazingly clean! Currently waiting on the crank seals and the crankshaft end play plate o-ring from Jacks Small Engines to arrive. In the mean time I’ve sandblasted the block to clean it up and have almost all parts cleaned and checked. Gonna clean up the valves and touch the cylinder with a hone and start assembling here shortly.

Making more progress. It’s painful knowing the crank seals are still about 2 weeks out...but it gives me time to focus on making it look good.

I made a little more progress tonight. Set the crankshaft end play and cleaned and painted a few more parts. Dad came through for me as well. A few years ago he saved a valve grinder from the dumpster where he worked. He pulled that out today and got it up and going, so tomorrow Mini-Me and I are heading over to touch up the valves and maybe get him to get moving on his 60 project... although Friday was his last day in charge at work. He has a few weeks or so to train his replacement and then he’ll be retired! We’ll see how it goes though. His last replacement only lasted a few days

Lapped, lashed, and installed the valves tonight. Got an email from Jacks Small Engines stating that my seals are being pushed back another week. Pretty upset that they don’t mention a part is out of stock until after you’ve completed the sale.
