has anyone bought an aftermarket seat for a 316 (or other models that use the same seat) that they are happy with?
    thanks!

Just replaced the seat on my 322. Bought this one
TY15863 New Yellow High Back Seat Made for John Deere Riding Mower Models 130 + https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHQV7CP..._cI7fEbECPBHF7
and it was a direct fit. Looked the same to me as the crusty and ripped original.

thanks! and the green parts store lists JD5604 as the decal for the front side of the seat back. on ebay for 11.99
does the seat have the drain holes in it? the picture on amazon isn't taken from the correct angle to show the bottom of the seat.
unfortunately, sometimes the 316 gets demoted and gets parked outside.

Yes it does have the drain holes. I’m definitely new to this tractor and make no statement of this being an OEM copy.

The one Mark posted is very much like I have on mine. No decal yet.

Just bought the $69.99 special from Northern Tool. Don't waste your time. Only one set of threaded mounting holes match the flip over seat base and they are way forward. I am going to have to return the seat. Plastic back and no drain holes.

I tried one of these from the local Atwoods Farm & Ranch store...about $65 all said & done but it was on sale that week. Normally goes for about $69 I think. Anyway, liked it so much I put one on my 430, too. Concentric is the brand name...don't know country of origin. Made to flex a little where the usual seat cracks show up, and has the drain holes. Very comfortable and lot of mounting holes on bottom...need to move both of mine back about an inch or so because the bottom seat pan is wider and deeper than original JD seats. Just takes getting used to when you get on or off your tractor.

    tmac,

Many of the aftermarket and 'universal fit' seats I have seen have the mounting holes set up to put the seat a bit forward on the vintage tractors...here is a picture of one on my 322 flip up plate of my suspension seat mechanism where I drilled a new set of holes to allow it to move back a couple of inches. This allowed the regular seat position slots on the tractor's fender pan to not be maxed out and I could find an optimum position for myself.

By the way -- that seat did not come with the decal attached, I added it...
