New from Texas! JD 140. First time Deere owner

    Hey Guys!

Been a lurker for a while. Decided to join not to long ago because I couldn't see half of the pictures on here lol.

Anyways, I've been a Bolens guy since I first learned about garden tractors but they are hard to come by in this area. Plenty of Cub Cadets and John Deeres but I have never been to big of a fan. Not sure why. Until I learned of the 140. Got a bit of an obsession in trying to get one but those were also pretty scarce and those that did pop up, didn't last very long. Until this weekend! Finally got my hands on one of them!!!

It is a little beat up. A bit of a frankenstein you might say but it runs, mows and the hydraulics work! Feels like there is sand everywhere so I do want to take it apart and clean it out and re-grease everything. The 3 Point does look like it hits the frame. Would anybody have any idea as to why?

    On to the pictures.

    Welcome,
looks like somebody put a rear tank on that also?
and the 3 point looks like it ran into the frame as well.
im not good enough to tell if that is a s pocket 3point or if it was fab bed up to fit.

Hey Sublime, thank you for responding. Not sure what you mean by s pocket but I'll see if tomorrow I can take better pictures of the 3pt.

I am not well versed in the JD models but From google pictures, it looks like part of the frame and fuel tank from a JD 317 might have been bolted on?

Think I'd like to keep though. Tank looks to be a decent size.

The 3 point looks like a factory unit to me but I know enough to know I don't know very much about them.

does your 3 point go up/down and if you run out your adjust levers does it run up into the frame?
wondering with the ball hitch if your trying to back up a trailer will the 3 point rise up if your pushing backwards on something and that caused it to hit and bend the rear frame area?

looks like it has seen some use that is for sure!

Could be right about having a 317 rear pan on there

If I take the 3 point all the way up, it bumps against the frame. Pretty sure that is what caused it but I didn't really inspect it close enough because the levers were stuck together and I had to hold the other two to move that one. I didn't want to mess anything up so first thing I did was remove the levers to clean them up. When I reinstall them this weekend, I'll take a picture. Waiting on the new white bushings to come in to install them back on.

    Thank you for your help
