If it has the original 16 hp horizontally opposed Briggs, parts on those might be hard to find. JD made a couple versions of the 116, one with a 5 speed Peerless gear drive and another, the 116H, with the hydrostat transmission. The 38 inch deck 116 will have slightly smaller rear tires than the 46 inch deck 116.
They were very good lawn tractors for the day, and were durable, solid machines. Unfortunately they, and the 111 and 108, probably don't bring much interest today since they are lawn tractors, though probably better built than most of them that are made today.
