HELP You regular guys have probably seen my request for this info before but I'm still confused of what and where to get what I need to do a tranny repair. I need a technical manual regarding this tractor but the ones I've found are for later model 140's. Was there a change of trannys after 68'? What are the specs on the springs for the directional control valves and relieve valves etc. I only get a few days to work on it and something else comes up and I have to drop everthing as the proirities change. Got a couple of exploded views from Lj at Lj Fluid Power but I need something more than that. I'm about to start drinking as I seem to run into a head wall each time. Well drinking more..... Would someone be willing to develop e-mail correspondence regarding this problem. I'm located in Twin Cities metro area.

Eric,

I am sure you will have fun and learn a great deal on this repair you are about to start on.

Great to hear you found the manual for this. Here are a couple of items to plan for while you wait for the manual to arrive.

SPECIAL TOOLS:
Retaining Ring Pliers - Removing snap rings from idler and output shafts
Sliding Hammer Puller - Pulling bearings from 5/8-inch blind hole
Mandrel- Type Puller - Removing pieces from valve body
0- 5000 PSI Gauge - Measuring high pressure
Telescopic Gauges - Checking inside diameter of cylinder block bores
0–4” Micrometers - Checking outside diameters and thickness of variable displacement parts
0-6” Depth Gauge - Measuring stack up for gasket determination Install rear cap and seal

PUMP REPAIR STAND:

Also here are some color schematics of the circuit. Your manual will more than likely have this in gray-scale.

Thanks Tim
I do have the lower schematic which I found in the archives. The upper schematic does help to shed a little light on the subject though. Is the stand for setting the pump case in so the pistons face upward??? Thats what I'm guessing, Right? Well I'll have a fun time and find it a challenge and save a few dollars too I'm sure. I'm currently on uninvolvement and the $$$ are a little short for hobby extras but I got plenty of time. I find a way to make it work though. Thanks again for the info. I'll bring this all back to the forum as I go proceed with the project. E

Eric, You are welcome. Yes, that is what the stand is for. I am also in the same boat, in-between jobs, and this current state of economy is… well… no, I won’t go into it.. I am very interested to see how your project goes, as I am also planning on going though my 68’ hydrostat sometime soon (pending funds and shuffling time with many other projects).
