My 1972 140 h1 transmission goes forward and reverse fine, but if I go forward and want to maintain that speed, I have to continualy push the lever to my desired speed as it creeps back towards the neutral position in a short period of time.

Hi Roy,

There is a friction adjustment bolt located directly below the lever on the side of the pedestal. Try a 1/4 turn at a time until you like the feel !!

I had the same problem on my 140. I tried the friction adjustment which Ron mentioned, and it helped some. The full cure was the procedure outlined in the service manual, which basically involves centering the cam located on the side of the pump. If you can pick up a service manual it will help a lot.

I have a service manual, thanks . but I dont know which hole the friction ajustment is in.

This is from the 1968 model year owners manual, but is the same for all years 120 and 140 tractors.

HI Kent. I have spotted that lock nut and will try it tomorrow. The creep down is minor, so this may take care of it. Thanks!
