I am replacing the Ignition module, trigger ring and condenser on my Onan P218 engine. I can get all parts locally from Cummins Crosspoint, except for the insulator which goes under the module. They need to order it which takes a week to get in. Can gasket material be used to make this myself or is the material something special. Thanks in advance

Dan,

Welcome to the WFM forums! You should be able to use your existing insulator -- they do not wear out. If yours is damaged for some reason just use a similar thickness insulator material you can get from an electronics hobby shop (Radio Shack may even have some...it is often called fishpaper but is more correctly termed vulcanized fiber.)

Thin fiberglass laminate material would also work, I suppose -- but it might be a challenge to find some as thin as your original insulator.

Thanks Chuck,
I will try using the existing insulator. A portion of it broke away, but not in the area under the module. If it cracks or breaks I'll look for the fishpaper. I'm really glad I found WFM. I'm sure I'll be referring to it many times.
