I was using the backhoe on the 140. I stop to check on the hole and refuel (turning it off). Once done I went to start and it wouldn't. Getting fuel to it and it didn't turn off hard. Pulled the spark plug and I am not getting any spark. With the key on there is 12 volts from the spark plug wire all the time. Don't know if it is just trace voltage where there is no amps. Can't really go buy a spark plug during a holiday nor a coil. Could it be the coil, capacitor hooked up to the coil or what? I know a fair amount about diesels and not much about gas engines. Less on the old 140's. Any help would be appreciated since I would like to finish digging the hole done (different story-moving pressure tank out of shop so it doesn't need to be heated during the winter).

Matt, this is the post that opened when I click on "VIEW DISCUSSION" in an email I received about a 322 for sale. I have had this happen on 4 or 5 occasions. Another benefit of belonging to WFM FACEBOOK account.

I reported it but doubt anything will happen.

coalminer (Travis) Remove condenser wire and points wire from - side of coil. check volts from - side of coil to ground.... should be ~around~ 7 -9 volts DC. Switch meter to ohms and check from +side of coil to - side of key (with key "Off")... should be ~around~ 3-4 ohms. I'm thinking primary windings, (going from coil + to coil-) are shorted, BUT!!! This may only be when coil is hot! after cooling down, you may (??) find everything is fine...until coil gets hot again. Bob
