thanks Mudrig, I stopped by a John Deere dealer on Friday and they set me up with some bolts that I can use,
I stopped in for other parts I needed and asked them since I was there.
I was out of my regular area and I talked some smack about the dealership in my area to them and they seemed to like that fact and was willing to try and look it up.
didn't find anything but the one guy took the good bolt to the back matched it up with something they had.

Now I just need to get the broken one pressed out and a little work on the sleeve tubing and it can go back on the tractor.

got a new attachment for the 140,

front mounted weight bracket with a receiver hitch built in.

I have a bunch of small trailers for use with ATV's and backing them up in there storage shed's is a problem this is gonna make that alot easier to due.

just wondering I have some other question's about things for this 140 should I start another thread for them or just add to this one?
I would prefer to just keep it all in this thread as then it easier for me to reference back but just wondering.

The big thing is not hijacking someone else's thread. There’s no rules for new threads per question, so feel free to combine all your endeavors with this tractor here. I like to combine mine as well.

thanks that is what I kinda thought but wanted to ask to clarify.

it makes it better for me if I keep it all in one thread that way when I want to look back for a pic of something I know where to go to find it
i also have a 74 140 but when I work on that I'll due I thread on that tractor.

thinking a thread per tractor is best, unless I'm asking unique question

so I wondering if my 69 has some charging problems.

thinking back this summer I had to jump start it 1 time and then after running it didn't want to engage the mower. then it only ran for 10 min and died. thought it was out of gas and I just pushed it back in the shed for the night and put battery charger on it as well. worry about it another day.

now thinking about it.

I had it running and put meter on the battery and was at 12.8 volts
turned on Mower and dropped to 11.8 volts, turned on lights and down to 11.4 volts turn off mower and back to 11.8

just some pics of the gauge on the dash that I took I forgot to take them of the meter when I had that on the battery.

guess I should be glad my gauge on the dash works and gives me feed back.

order of the Pics is Running, Running with Lights, Running with Lights and Mower, Running with Mower.
throttle was wide open the whole time as well.

Sublime, remove plug/wires from regulator. Measure voltage across 2 wires from stator at wide open throttle (WOT), should be around 40 VAC...NOTE: AC. Check 3rd wire going to key switch (??), should be around 13 VDC. While you've got your meter, check ohms for pto coil, should be 3 ohms...less is bad, 2 is terrible! Bob

I'll have to check my manual. I think it says how to test it.
Here's what I would check:
Check and clean all the connections for charging parts, start at farthest from the stator, and work your way forward.
Replace key switch. (I'd replace it anyway, never know what's going on inside the original)
Test the VR.
Test the stator.

Most of the time, it should just be a bad VR or corroded terminals.

Got the sleeve hitch back on the 140 today, didnt have time time to work on the charging problem though. But I had put the trickle charger on the battery this week so battery is charged up. needed space in the workshop for a atv project so the 140 got booted back out to the unheated shed. pic of the hitch back on and for my reference it's 12" to top of adapter down and 16" to top of adapter raised.

so I got the 69 out of its winter storage over the weekend and used it for some chores, Pulled a trailer up to the pine tree and trimmed up some branches which are gonna get used in a maple syrup production for this upcoming weekend.

and then I went out and tried to drive around out in the little bit of snow that I had left. just having some fun.

spun out a few time had to back up and try again.

I got them both at the same auction, from a collection my uncle had who was selling due to health reason's.

the 69 Ran and paid $450 for that one.

the 74 didn't run and I got that for $250 I had $800 at the auction to spend.

got the weight bracket from a guy on my tractor forum cost me $280 I think I wanted the front receiver, I have several small trailers and when i want to back them into a tight spot that front bracket is gonna be nice to have. I have some small sheds that the trailers just fit into and with a ATV its a line it up 10 times to finally get it lined up to fit into the shed.

:thumb:Not a bad deal. We have posted on the same threads on MTF as you, so that how I know who you are. Just bustin your chops brother.

from a fellow moparer I'd expect nothing less!

i was pumped to get both the 140 at the auction,
heck I went into it saying I'd be happy to get 1,
the 74 non runner sold first and after I got that I did math in my head and was willing to up to 500$ on the running one.
was on my last bid at 450$ and the other guy stopped at 425$
he had some round fenders as well that I would have liked to have tried to get but I they went before the 140 and I was on a budget.

Moving some more trailers, I really like the front receiver hitch for moving trailers around you can put them just where you want them.
just drove up to this one got off the tractor and stood beside it and inched forward till I was right where the hitch was and hooked up backed tractor up and cleared the other trailer and moved this one over to where it needed to go. I had just made the top cover for this trailer and now I have a small covered trailer.

and 1 more, moving this trailer as well,
this on I have built for when I want to move some long boards around its still a work in progress and right now its holding some old plywood that came from a old deer stand that got blown over in a wind storm. The plywood is about shot but works for small projects where I don't need premium stuff just stuff that will shed some water for a while.

also I love the steering wheel spinner knob that is great for turning.

the 69 got some love tonight it got some new wider rubber on the back,

It had deestone 23x10.5-12 which i thought they looked pretty good on there.

I traded this winter for some Carlisle 23x10.5-12 tires that I was gonna put on my 74 for tilling duties. got looking at the carlisle and they are alot bigger than the deestones so the carlisle went on the 69 and the deestone's went on the 74 to keep it track smaller for the tiller to cover.

just lying flat you can see the difference,

side by side you can also see the difference.

carlisle on the left and deestone on the right.

final pic the 74 with tiller has the deestone and the 69 with mower deck has the carlisle's
same size of tires. make me wonder. I know certain ATV tire brands run smaller than what they say I guess I'm gonna have to take notice for garden tractor tires as well.
