I picked up a 430 a couple of weeks ago. It had been repainted and the previous owner removed the tag and forgot to give it to me when I picked up the tractor. He sent it to me and I just got it today. Now I know I have a '88 430. Question is, can someone give me the approximate location of where the tag should go. Say from one edge of the pedestal and from the top surface of the fender deck? Thanks.

Ok on my 430 the tag is on the upper left of the pedestal

1 inch from the left edge and 7.5 inches up from the fender deck

I took these two pictures with my cell phone and the second one is blurry but its dark out
They will give you the idea of where my tag is

Maybe it's measure once and slap on twice...

Here's my experience in the aerospace industry, for what it's worth. I've seen it both ways. I've seen company id plates (or decals) dimensioned on the drawing to within + or - .03 inches tolerance for placing them on an item. And I've seen a general note flagged to the plate stating "Location approximately as shown". It depended on what group was doing the drawings for whatever item they were designing. Myself, I like the general note thingy, but I have done it both ways.

Terry, I like that you have the tag. It kinda gives authenticity to it.
