Rebuilding a 1990 420 is JD BLITZ BLACK the correct paint for the frame and components to frame? Also were the oil lines painted or clear coat? Any suggestions on cleaning-up oil-cooler? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Ken, I know alot of people use the deere blitz black, but i use john deere's medium black. I think it looks really good without too much gloss.

I'm with Nick, I like the Medium Gloss Black....However either is ok, both have been used, and without the 2 setting side by side, most wouldn't notice any difference.

Thanks to Nick & Jim for your input in regard to JD BLITZ! Did you have an opinion on hyd-lines? Clear-coat or paint? Also product to clean-up oil cooler? APPRECIATE YOUR INFORMATION KEN

All my tractors are workers so i paint the hydraulic lines black. I just added a deere rear hydraulic kit to my 420 this weekend and one line was already painted from deere, and the other wasn't. so from that standpoint, i figure deere wanted them painted as well.

The oil cooler, i just blow it out good with air, and wash it with water. got to make sure you don' put too much pressure to it and bend the fins the over. You could take a smaller fine wire brush and carefully clean the cooler if you wanted. I wouldn't paint the cooler though, leave it natural.

I guess everything depends on what your gonna do witht the tractor. If your gonna use it, it's gonna get dirty, so don't go too overboard.

Deere never clear coated anything. The lines did have a zink coating but to be honest, paint will work too.
