I got some yard chores done today. I cut down an old pine tree that's been dieing the last 2 years. It had 3 trunks coming off the main trunk, and was quite a job. The 2030 ran like a top while I hauled everything away.
It was kind of cool, the tractor could drive over things that a normal lawn mower wouldn't be able to because of the ground clearance, and the size of the wheels. I wonder why they didn't build garden tractors with taller wheels?
Thanks for the compliments on the 2030, it started out as a 110 that I bought off a forum member. It took 6 months from the time I started cutting, until I added the finishing touches, (and that was with 2 months off to let a broken hand heal.)
I had already built a mini IH, so I had a very good idea about what, and how I was going to build things...
The rims on the JD are 15", and the IH are 16". The real IH tractor has about 90 horse, and the real JD has about 60 horse, so they are very different in size.
Here is a thread I started on the 2030 in October.
Will, you will really enjoy your custom machine when it's all done, I love taking mine to shows and having people ask questions about them... If you need any help with the fenders, let me know, I can send you the pattern I used for mine.
Paul D, that little tractor is very nice... have you had a chance to take some picts of it with the full size tractor it replicates? That would be cool picture.
