Hi All. I just thought I'd drop a note to say I am still around and after my 7 month hiatus from here and most things tractor related hopefully things will be back to normal. I know I have missed being involved here over that time.

Hi All. It'll take awhile to get all caught up on here, didn't get too far last night.

Tom R.- Yes, it was good to get out to Portland. I am sorry to say though that Springfield is out for me this time around as that is my weekend with the kids and right now they are the #1 priority in my life.

Hi All. I look forward to seeing all the pictures from Ohio. I really hate the circumstances that have made me miss the last two Ohio Expo's as I had a great time there in '02, '04 and '06. Maybe 2012 will work out for me. As much as I hate to admit it, I will get to a tractor show tomorrow, but it is the Red Power Roundup at Laporte, IN. Yes, it is the wrong color of tractors, but since I have my kids this weekend, an hour long drive from home with my dad and my son will be well worth it as we have never went on an excursion like this before. I also do have a bit of a soft spot for Farmall 560 and 1206 tractors since I spent many hours as a kid running my dad's. Besides, I have several friends that like that wrong color of tractor that I'm sure I'll run into
But, it still won't be like going to the JD Expo....

Hi All. I hope everything went great at Springfield. Although I went to the "other" brand show today, it was fun. I did get to see Steve Blunier's CC 100 as well as getting to see in person for the first time a Viking Roller Blade Allied attachment. There were several other neat Allied attachments in the Cub building. All was not lost on a JD guy like me though as besides seeing a lot of JD Gators, there was this little smoker there that was being used as a people mover.

The best and most priceless part was getting to spend the day with these two guy's

What a better way to spend the day than with family and tractors, even if the tractors were the wrong color.

Oh, I forgot to mention I saw these at the M.E. Miller Tire truck.

Firestone 23 degree bar tires, 4 ply and best of all, size 23x10.50-12. Bad news, $125 each....

I'm sure that I will end up with a pair though, as they would be perfect on the back of my 318.

Hi All.

Tony S.- Boy that bracket and 140 sure look awful familiar to me
Jim B. is correct, there is a nub that is part of the weight casting on the backside of the weights that goes under that rod, which keeps the weights from bouncing out and off of the bracket. Here is a pic of that bracket right after getting painted back in 2003

Boy, I can't believe it has been since the winter of 2002-2003 since I had that weight bracket built....

Hi All. Tomorrow through sunday is my local show at Winamac, Indiana (http://www.winamacpowershow.com/) With my recent divorce, I figured the kids and I would just haul my 140 up tonight.

Up there and unloaded.

My favorite picture, Kyle and Khloe hamming it up.

Lastly, here is a 1969 140 that I have been working on for the last couple of months for a good friend, Tom, and we just got done with the electrical system and some engine work on July 5, just in time for him to be able to bring it up to the show.

Minnappolis Moline is the feature this year, but all makes/models are welcome.

Hi All.

Drew G.- I was lucky enough to get an original Brinly crane from a good friend a couple of years ago. Although it doesn't have a great lift range since it doesn't have a winch on it, it does what I need it to do and is very handy to have.

John H.- That guy has those three there (models 105, 125 & 140). There are also a few Minniapolis-Moline GT's there too (since MM is the featured tractor make this year). These are all the Jacobson made tractors. I'll get more pictures of all of them later this morning. In good news, next years show here at Winamac will feature John Deere

Hi All. I know it's been a bit since I checked in here, but it has been a busy summer. Thanks to Rick Nicholson, I picked up a new toy sunday.

It is a 48" replacement deck I have been wanting to buy off of him for about 3 years since I have a decent 48" deck from a 245 to use for parts to make this one like new. Currently it has the older tractor mounts, but I'll buy the draft arms to put it under the 318 yet this fall and use it some. I'll have to see then which I like better, this one or my 50" w/speedup pulley. No, I don't mow with weights and front tri-ribs, but since it came with the old style mounts, I wanted to put it on and run it to see how the bearings sounded, and since the 140 was handy, that was the doner tractor

Hi John. I won't retire the 318 anytime soon, but since the ex took the 214 (which was my backup mowing tractor) & dad has my original 140 deck under his 316K tractor, I figured it was time to get a deck for this tractor "just in case" something happens to the 318. I don't really want to go back to using my '68 112 & 38" deck, that is for sure
I will say this, this deck must run faster, as the 140 now grunts at half throttle when you turn the deck on, I don't remember it doing that with my model 48 deck dad has now. I can't wait to get it under the 318 & put it through it's paces.

Hi AJ. Yes it will. But, if you have an original 110-140 weight bracket, it won't fit a 200 series unless it is modified as shown in this October 1974 service bulletin shows. It also shows how to modify an original 120-140 mule drive to fit later 300 series tractors.

Hi All.

Tom M.- #49 snowthrowers SN 5,834 & lower did not have the shearbolt style of rotor (unless it has been changed). This change was made in 1970 or 1971, I'd have to dig up the service bulletin to give you an exact date. #37A snowthrowers SN 115,001 and lower, as well as all #37 snowthrowers also do not have the shearbolt rotor and were changed at the same time.

Brian M.- Unless you already have the 317 hitch and want to fabricate, then no. With the prices that both styles of these hitches bring, if you still have to purchase it, you are better off to find the correct one (316 Onan, 318, 322, 330, 332, 420 & 430 tractors use one style while the earlier tractors such as the 140, 300, 314, 316 Kohler & 317 use another, although an original 140 hitch won't fit the 300 series unless modified, but the 300 series will fit a 140).

Hi All.

Doug L.- It was nice chatting with you this morning, hopefully I got all your questions answered, oh, and the 300 looks great!

Greg C.- From your pictures it looks like you have a twin cylinder, Onan powered 316. The belt number you list is for 120, 140, 300, 312, 314 & 316 Kohler powered tractors. For an Onan tractor you would need belt M82718.

Hi Greg. I used my paper parts book and in there when it lists both 316's it uses the tractor serial number. The shorter belt is for 316's SN 80,001-95,000 while the longer one is for 316's SN 285,001 and higher.
