My 1985 JD 212 38 Inch Mid Mount Deck has been breaking idler pulley springs regularly. I've been through 4 this season. Seems like metal fatigue. Replaced deck belt this time and added an S hook to the pulley and 2 small links of SS chain to the deck attachment point. Figured the spring was probably too tight before, and this fix would relieve some tension and let the spring move more freely. I've cut the grass once since. So far so good. Any Ideas? Thanks guys.
