Got this shaft with a 47 blower, but don't know what it fits. A little research leads me to believe it is for a 4WD X-series (X748?) but I'm not sure. It measures about 44" long. Anybody have one of these? Thanks, Kevin

Yep, I have 2. It fits the X5-X7 4wd units.

For the 4 wheel drive there is a shaft that goes through the front axel and then the snowblower shaft connects to that.

Recently I cleaned my 38" deck and painted it. A week ago 1 spindle pulley broke off from its center housing (which goes over the shaft). When removing I noticed it is upside down: the 1" or so housing is facing up:'this pulley is under the small cover. The other pulley has the housing on the bottom giving it some offset. Is this normal? When I replaced with new pulley I installed it similar to the other one. First time I mowed I thought deck sounded a bit rough, but, it mowed fine.

Should the pulleys orient different ways - upside down & normal?

ID look on JD parts and see if they orient the same way or not. Is this a 2 blade deck or a 3 blade deck? Both cut 38 inches, The 3 blade deck the pulleys are all on the same way for sure. Roger

It is a 2 blade and JD parts drawing was not clear. I will keep an eye on the deck: will let you know. Thanks a bunch Roger.
