I just got a used lockout valve for my 425 to make my 40 loader bucket more responsive. It did that, but the valve leaks around the stem of the 'T' handle when using the hydraulics. I tightened the nut that the stem goes through and it did not stop the leak which drips slowly. Does any one know if there is an o-ring in there and if it will come apart and be easy to reassemble? I don't want to try and remove the stem and ruin the valve.

It looks like the part is sold as a whole piece on jdparts. You can get the o-rings for the connection ends. There does not seem to be an internal parts blowout for it. Maybe it's not servicable?

I bit the bullet and took it apart. The 'T' handle actually screwed out easily after I loosened the nut the whole way. There is a white plastic (teflon or nylon?) ring split on one side at an angle then a rubber o-ring and lastly a brass colored washer. It looks as though the smashing of the o-ring between the plastic and brass washer is what expands it around the stem for a seal. Mine was all cruddy so I cleaned it all off and screwed it back into the housing. I cranked it pretty tight this time and no leaks after a 30 minute test run. Maybe it was a piece of dirt or I just did not have the nut tight enough. Thanks Roger.

I have rebuilt this engine, everything new.Was doing great up till now.It has about 50 hrs on the rebuild. runs great , then all the sudden it seems like the ACR kicks out. Then no power to restart for a few seconds.then it starts right up.It also has a knocking sound under load,it comes and goes. I have checked the rod, and it is tight.

Try replacing the condensor if you haven't already.

do you have the coil and condensor on the motor?
I have the coil bolted to the battery tray and the condensor on the motor. the vibration of the wire to condensor pulled the wire out of the condensor.
had to replace the condensor and I moved next to the coil

the vibration heat from the the motor can cause problems for both problems for them

have you checked the starter switch?

I know this is an old thread but I recently picked up a 40 loader and it came with an old lockout valve. Upon installation it leaked badly out of the stem. After a few failed attempts to fix the leaking stem with just an o-ring I made a trip out to a local hydraulics specialist. They sold me a rubber "back up ring" and an o-ring. The backup ring replaced the teflon split ring. It has a flat side that goes against the brass nut and a cupped side that supports the o-ring. When reassembling make sure to press the metal washer back into the stem housing before screwing the brass nut down, this will prevent you from tearing up the new rubber rings. I purchased from Industrial Hydraulics Indianapolis, parts 2-111 and 8-111 @ $.38 each. No more leaking lockout valve.
