John the only way to know is to try them. Not all manufactures make them the same in size and there are significant variations. Deestones for example are much smaller than Tru Powers. If you mow with the tractor I would worry about them hitting the mower deck and could I get the mower level again. Roger

Roger, there are plenty of people running these tires, so he doesnt have to "just try them" and find out, lets here what others say.

Only variable would be rim width as they bulge more with narrower rims, and sit flatter on wider, but I would assume most people mount them on stock rims.

Are you getting wider rims as well? Mike brings a good point on if you are also changing the rims. As far as shimming up the fender deck-we needed to on the 140 backhoe but I don't remember the brand of tire. That is really minor though. Not a big deal to install these tires if you aren't mowing with it.

travis, im going to try the stock rims. I currently have 23x8.50x12 bar tires on them now but i have a set of 23x12x12 turf tires on stock rims in the shop. I plan on using those rims. do you think they will work? if not where do i get rims that will? thanks again

John,

The 26x1200-12 TruPower Carlisle tires have the mounted diameter specified in their catalog for a given rim size. For a 8.5 inch rim width, these tires are 25.6 inches in diameter.

I had 26x1200-12 turf Carlisle tires on my 317 at one point...those show a mounted diameter of 25.2 inches on 8.5 inch rims -- very nearly the same tire height. I did not have to shim the fender deck. Here is a picture:

You can measure the height of your existing rear tire and the present fender deck clearance and then calculate what you will get with the TruPower tires -- subtract your existing diameter from 25.6 then divide that result by 2 and subtract that answer from your present fender clearance. Simple, really...

thanks for all the info guys. you have all been a big help. Im thinking the only reason i would space it out would be in case i pull a stupid and grab the fender while plowing i dont wanna remove a finger in between the fender and tire.

Firestones like Doug's are about 1" taller than Tru powers. Both 26x12x12 size.

I have Stones on 10.5" rims on my 332 and Powers on either 8.5 or 10.5" (bought them on rims) on my 420.

no fender height can grab a finger or if a rock is lodged in the tread it could jam up on you
