Always forget to get some when I'm doing an oil change, so finally ordered 3 of them. Going to throw one in my 140 right away to catch any chips from busting out the balance gear.

Got them off ebay for 3 bucks a piece.

I will post up once I get them of what I think of the quality.

Picked one up from Krik when I got my other parts. Makes sense to me.

Travis, I was thinking they were 8 bucks from Kirk for some reason, but I see he sells them for 3 as well. His site is where I got the idea to install them.

That looks like a valve that was on my 212 when I got it, or maybe a 318-420. I believe all the 140's I have had just had a plug.

Mine is OEM. It is shown in the shop/owner's manual as standard equipment.

It is sized for standard diameter garden hose. Very handy for oil changes -- no mess/no spill.

You would have to install it before dropping the engine in.

My 120 also had the plug. Not sure if the valve would fit.

The brass drain was an optional item from JD to make oil changes much less "messy..."
I have installed them on each of my tractors. WFM member Romeo Isabelle used to make a slotted tool for opening them - very handy on the 318.

Don't really need a Fancy Tool …..I always used the handle from a small bottle jack ….. they fit perfect too !

Once I get my engine swap in my 318, from Onan to the Kohler the oil drain valve will be transferred over as well …. it works great !
