I'm changing the engine oil and hydro fluid on my 1976 300 project for the first time and have a couple questions:

1. I took the line off to drain the fluid and removed the filter. Once I put the filter on and add fluid, is there something I need to do to purge the front lines? I'm replacing the type f red fluid with low vis.

2. The bottom of my oil drain plug is broken off. I picked up a used one on ebay. I went to take the old one off and it won't clear the frame since it is "L" shaped. I wasn't planning to pull the motor until I was ready to clean up the frame. Are there straight after market plugs anyone has used?

Thanks for all the help so far. I'm having fun with it ( most of the time)

Unsure about number 2, but all I did for number 1 was refill with LV and let it run a few minutes, then put on a hose with no end and a hyd fitting and flushed the front lines till I saw the red change to clear. After that I was all set.

Thanks. I'm new to the hydro stuff. After looking at it last night, I might as well just pull the engine and swap the oil drains. Seems easy enough to do - disconnect the driveshaft and motor mount bolts. I figure I can clean up the engine compartment and check the condition of the motor mounts.

Another day of rain in CT. I came home from work and decided to pull the engine and replace the drain plug. I wish I had my old engine hoist..

I also changed the hydro fluid and filter. Time to figure out what to do next. Thanks to everyone for the advice on my project.
