The nephew broke one of the front attachment hooks - ears off from his newly acquired 300 while trying to chain pull something from the front. It cracked off clean, like it was brittle. He had one fellow tell him the metal appears to be cast, another said straight up steel. He wants to weld it up. I'm not sure what to tell him to use. Has anyone had any experience with welding of the frame in that spot? (sorry...no pictures yet!)

I broke the same part on my 112. another member cut one off a junk frame for me, and I had it welded back on. I use the snowblower mount on the front of it, the draft plate in the pins, and a large piece of angle iron behind both hooks to get it lined up just right.

Depending on the location you might have an issue getting it welded strong again. If needed I have a set I cut flush with the frame from a 140 I could sell (put a trike front on the 140 and those get cut off). But - it isn't cast at least.
