Guys,
Coming from a gear tractor, the hydraulics are new to me so bear with me. Since I have my 300 project down to the frame, a member suggested adding a second set of lines to the front. The SM states that a kit was available for the 300. Do I need to find a set of metal lines or can I use rubber lines? Also, I'm assuming I need a second set if I was to use a 4-way plow. How about a 47 or 49 blower?

Thanks
Nick

Hi Loren. I believe it was 1976 model year 300's were the ones that did not have the second set of front lines and couplers from the factory. As Nick said, there was a kit that included the lines and couplers to add them.

Nick- You could use rubber lines, just take care to route them where they wouldn't rub anything. You could also probably put a WTB add up for the factory hard lines, I believe you can use the ones from any model 300 or a 316 Kohler and have them bolt right on.

I would suggest the hard lines. I bought a shot little rubber line to replace the suction line on my 317 that Kent told me I would have to replace
and it cost $70. That was just 2 feet long with two 90's and didn't work as good as metal.
On a side note, if you decide to scrap it out I will buy the suction tube and 90* elbow out of the rear axle

Nick,

I installed rubber lines on my 300 last year. I just went to Farm & Fleet and got the 2-1/4" x 36" hoses and I think I had enough fittings to complete. You want to make sure you use some sort of protector for the lines where they go by the motor mount and when going back through the frame. I just used 3" pieces of heater hose. also make sure you use electrical ties to keep them out of the way of the deck. Haven't had any problems as yet. I did grind some metal from the front of the motor mount due to the engine shake.

hey nick, i believe it was me that said something about adding another set of lines.
you won't need them for a 49 blower as it only has lift and lower, not angle. now if you like the idea of a power angle 54 blade, then you'll need the h2.

i would recommend hard lines but it's only my opinion. watch *bay and you should be able to pick them up pretty cheap if a wanted add here doesn't turn up anything.
