As part of my major 300 rebuild I'd like to install a site tube to replace the dip stick. Can anyone share a pic of their setup. This would be a huge help in figuring out the proper connections.... thanks!!

I found some great images of the site tube in the archive but still need to know where to cut into the rear frame to run the tube. Could someone please measure from the bottom of the frame to the middle of the site tube level?

thanks

Rodney, I don't have a 300, but I have several 300 & 400 series and they only have a screw hole to hold the bracket that holds the sight glass. When you say cut into the rear frame, do you mean drill that hole? I thought all 300 series had the sight glass arrangement.

Ron-
The 300 series closed frame have a notch cut into the hitch plate that the clear tubing shows in. The early 300s never had a sight glass, they just had a dipstick to check the trans fluid level.

Rodney-
If someone doesn't beat me to it, I will measure my 300 when I get home tonight.

Rodney-

Here are pictures of the measurements for the sight tube on my 300. They are from the bottom up and from the left side. The last picture is of the transmission from inside the frame. There is a small piece of steel that holds the tube in place.

Thanks Jeremy!! 5 inches to center.. perfect.. Work sure gets in the way of play! I haven't touched this project for a month. I'll have to tap a hole into the drain plug as well, NLA from Deere.

Thanks again!
