I have what I believe is a 316 mower deck (M00596X) and I want to use it on a 300 (C300F).
Is this possible and what is involved? I see the rear attachment arms are different, what other issues will I find? Belt?

I could be mistaken, but I believe the deck works with all closed frame 300 series and 120/140 tractors? Which 316 is it from? 316k?
Not all 316's are closed frames, correct?

Closed frame decks swap between all closed frame tractors with some minimal modification. I have used the same 41 originally on a 316Kohler on my 312 and my 120.

thank guys. Sorry I left the post open so long...I found some arms without the spring pins in it and the deck works without issues on my 300 now without any other modifications. Im new to JD and still havent figured out what defines a closed frame versus an open frame.

Closed frame design was used on the 120/140/300/312/314/316K/317 and references to the back of the frame being closed in around the rear axle

Open frame design was used on 316onan/318/322/330/332 and references to the back of the frame being open behind the rear axle

With the switch to the open frame design Deere changed the mounting arms for decks. There are more changes in the redesign but I have limited experience with the open frame machines.

The first pic is of the frame of my 120 - the axle/pump assembly is attached to the back plate that the hitch is mounted to.

The second pic shows the back of a 318 where you can see the axle assembly.

Ah...that was easy to understand...thank you! I have a closed frame 300 then
Yes your 300 is a closed frame tractor along with any 120, 140, 312, 314, 316 with the Kohler, and 317.
