317 with Onan, flip the PTO switch and PTO does not spin. The tractor has a quick way loader on it and the drive belt is hooked up to the loader front pump. How do I trouble shoot this? First I will take the belt off and test again... Could it be a loose wire? Bad PTO switch., bad PTO or something else? Thanks

Took the belt off and nothing. The PTO switch is really rusty as this tractor sat outside for many years before I picked it up. Should I get a new switch then go from there ? Thanks

I would clean up the connections and test again for continuity. Off=open=no tone / On=closed=tone so you can rule out the switch being the problem.

All (I think) the switch does is close the loop.
You might try taking the wires off the switch, turn on key and touch them together and see if the PTO gets energized.

JD us be you checked that you get 12v to the pto circuit, and that your pto gap is at 0.018?
