Determined I had bad coil...read how a Harley coil will work...I installed a round chrome one and fired up nicely...mowed the grass..sat a week...tried to start to put plow on and no spark. 12V at coil and points. checked ohms on coil...and nothing on the + and - post. 10.2 ohms on sp wire post...is this coil bad...thank you for any help

Make sure you get a true 12 Volt coil and not one that needs a ballast resistor. Ballast resistor coils will burn out when run on a 12 volt system without the resistor

I buy mine at Napa for $30. If you search.this site for" Napa kohler coil" you can find the availible part numbers. Napa also stocks actual kohler coils for about $80
