i recently replace my series 2 motor out of my 317 with honda 18 hp it really shakes bad i replace the key in the drive shaft, and put in new motor mounts what else can it be ??

i talked to a guy at the jd store today and said that thats prolly what it is so i bought a new one so i'm going to try that. thanks

Craig, When you mount the new drive shaft mount it on the motor side first its a little easier that way..

i put the new drive shaft in and now its a whole different machine wow what a big difference.

Great! And you're very welcome. Glad to be of assistance. Those early 317 shafts are not known for thier long term durability. I replaced mine and it had the zerk fittings and made a HUGE difference.
