Same thing. Found a cheap 317 that was parked due to engine problems. I hate to part things out but it might donate the rear end to my fathers 140 4X4 along with my brothers parts 317. The engine really doomed a otherwise good tractor on that series.

I would put the effort into 330, you will have something more valuable when your done.

Not really sure what parts really interchange between the 2 other than the rear wheels (fronts are probably metric spindles on your 3330, not a whole heck of lot else other than small things.

My son bought a 317 and got an extra 317 that had been tipped over. I'm putting a M18S in the one with the bad engine. So far so good, I am putting new rings in it while I had it on the bench. It appears to me a Kohler might be easier to work on than an Onan. At least the jugs come off to work on them. The 317 is a great machine, too good to throw away.
Hope you can find a Magnum 18 for it.

I've been thinking about this combo, too. It's usually not too hard to find a non-running 317, CHEAP. I think as M18 or M20 would be an excellent engine. They are built like tanks and have a magneto ignition, making them nearly idiot proof(and I need that). That magneto ignition requires grounding instead of power, so you can't just plug it in. I used a relay set-up on my Magnum ignition K341.
