On the three prong plug I have a red, green and brown wire. I have voltage to the green and brown but not the red. Any ideas what might cause this, the fuses were eliminated when I got this chassis. The PO indicated the tractor did run before the engine broke. all other electrical items seem ok, has no seat safety switch, but my other 318 doesnt and it works fine. any ideas? by the way, my plan is to transplant a p218 in place of the old b43.

Mike, I think you are referring to the X12 connector.. This should have a pink wire, a brown wire and either a green or a red wire. The green or red (depending on your SN) ties to +12v from the 25A CB and should always have +12v active as this is not switched by the ignition sw. The tan or brown wire is for oil pressure and the remaining pink wire (I think you are calling it red) is the ignition +12v. This should have +12v when the key is turned on. I will send you a wiring diagram in your eMail. Dan

Dan, thanks that will help alot. I see that I will have to remove the frame mounted solenoid as the newer onan has it on the starter, now as far as wires, I see a purple wire down in the wire bay that has a plug that would go onto a bolt, like the plugs on a circuit breaker, the newer onan has a purple wire going down to the starter, I suppose I could tie into that wire, it is hot with key on.
