I was putting the power steering control valve back in my 318 after a rebuild. As I connected the last line, the threads let go. I guess I over tightened it but I really wasn't cranking on it. I'm trying to figure out what to do now. The threads on the valve are what stripped. Not sure if I need to tear it back apart and weld a line on or what. Any suggestions? Also wondering if anyone knows how much hydraulic pressure a 318 produces?

I think between 700 and 900 psi. I don't have a suggestion right now on the threads. I know welding or soldering would be difficult on a valve that has been exposed to oil all its life.
IF you could find another valve body and switch your parts over that would work.

But you have nothing to lose by trying a silver (solder) brazing repair.

Was it the nipple going into the valve or the hose going onto the nipple. May be able to helicoil it. But you might want to see what a used valve sells for as that might be the best option in the long run.

Thanks guys. Yes it was the nipple. Heli coil was my first thought, but I can't find that size yet. I may just break it back down and braze a short hard line to it. Just to humor myself I priced a new steering control through John Deere: 1,049.97!!!! I'll wait til I tear it down to decide which route to go. Thanks again for the feedback guys.
