318 repower questions

Is there a repower kit available in canada for the 318. I'm looking into the kohler 20, I have not looked into ordering from the states but it appears as if a lot of the repower suppliers don't ship north and I think it effects the warranties also. If there is not a kit does someone have a detailed list of items, diagrams and sizes of the parts in the kits

Try Pruitt Engines or Repower Engineering.
Thanks Mike I just got my kit today from Pruitt.
How about some pictures Kent?
Let's see what you got.

Here are the now and then pics, it appears either the cam shaft or crank gear failed on the onan.

How is that repower going. How about a progress report. Got any pictures. I have a 318 that needs a rebuild or a repower and since I am in the same part of the country as you, sure would like to hear how things went with Pruitt, customs, shipping, installing etc.

Thanks Roman
I installed the engine twice now, after I installed it the first time I didn't like how my drive shaft wobbled slightly on my hydro end, so I ordered a new HD one from JD. I put in the new one and it was much better especially at low RPM. So now I'm just trying to tidy things up so there will be no problems later, eg wires rubbing on the frame, sharp edges etc. This was my first experience cross border shopping so over all I thought it when pretty good. Pruitt was good to work with, I had to get a customs broker, I went with the one they had used before. The broker was good, it was just tuff me because I had never used one and just wanted to be certain I had done everything right. It took 10 days for ordering to delivery, including the weekend. Installation was pretty straight forward there only a few small gaps in the instructions that were not difficult to over come.

Other than having to install twice it sounds like things went pretty smooth for you. Any problems with side panels or exhaust. What was the total cost to get the engine. Sure be nice to see a picture of the finished install.
Thanks Roman

The side panels are very close to the valve covers. I may add a heat shield to the exhaust at a later date, but there is not a lot of extra room to work with there. I have not put much run time on the engine yet, but it does seem to run warm so I'm going to run with out the side panels until it gets broke-in. The PTO wire comes out on top of the clutch now(right below the muffler) so I'm going to get some heat protection loom for that wire and the wire for the front lights, even though I don't use them.If you would like more details on the install give me your e-mail and I can send you more. The cost was about 2200 CAD for kit and shipping to "my door"( I picked it up at the shippers warehouse)the broker was about 275 with their fee and GST,they collect the GST for the gov't. When I think about it sounds pricey, but that price wouldn't buy a new replacement tiller.

As you can see I do not dust much.

This was the reason for the new motor.

That Kohler looks real good. Thanks for the info and pictures. If I do repower this is the way to go for sure. Yes its not cheap but now you have a new motor and as you know, try to find a rebuildable Onan around this part of the country.
Thanks Roman
I would run that "snorkel" on the air filter to the other side of the firewall to draw in cool air. I think you could just point it back and have a hole in the sheet metal. Otherwise it loosk good.
