This is what is currently on my JD 318. Do I need to put on the starter improvement kit, or the Kirk points saver? I know this is probably a dumb question, but I'm a novice mechanic!! Thanks for all the help.

point saver is nice but I have had good luck running with points on my 84 420

I don't mean to be a smart aleck here but, starter IMPROVEMENT , points SAVER ...Yes, do both ! I have and am very happy I did ! The points saver isn't all that expensive . If you go to the Kirk website and read about it , I would be willing to bet you will buy one after reading the benefits. The starter improvement kit just helps the starter...so..here in Northern Illinois I need that in below zero weather when there is 1-8 inches of snow depending on what Mother Nature left for me.
