OK, being the eternal tightwad I decided to put a set of seals into my 318 steering control valve rather than pay $400 plus parts to have it done. My question, I have two springs in the sector next to the bottom that popped out before I could see where they went. I have an exploded diagram from the dealer but my two springs don't seem to belong. Help!

I have chosen to replace the seals in my steering control valve myself rather than pay $400 at the dealership. I may have run into one snag. As I took the bottom section off I had two springs relocate before I could see where they went. They are about a quarter inch across and maybe an inch and a quarter long. I have the exploded diagram from the dealership but can't find my springs in their pictures. Help! Please!

Here is some more information that might be of help. See figure 82 on page 30 and figure 88 on page 32 (note the different length springs used in each step...)

I looked at the file you suggested and it will help a great deal. I hope to put it back together tonight. I had to order springs as one of the longer ones escaped unnoticed so I only had two. I had my daughter taking pictures as I took it apart and we both missed the little bugger. Thanks for the help!

I am in need of an installation diagram for this kit. I have recently acquired the kit but no instructions. It appears way more complicated than necessary just to provide a switched 12v source? I would like to use it but it may be easier to just fabricate my own harness...Thanks!

James I would contact a JD dealer and see if they can help you. I have done that many times with good results. Roger
