It's more likely the hydrostatic pump than the differential. Rebuild might be possible but very expensive. Best bet would be a good used pump or complete rear end. If you take the hydrostatic pump off you will be able to see if the rear end/differential is okay or not.

Shawn,

Like Cliff said, it has probably trashed the hydrostatic pump unit, not the differential. I bought a 430 that had this happen. It bent the hitch and cracked the axle mount too. I simply put a 318 pump on it and it runs great. 420 430 318 322 332 pumps all bolt right up. The only difference are the pressure reliefs on top of the unit. There are no relief buttons on the 420 and 430 since they already have a neutral for pushing them. You can just replace them with the reliefs from yours if you happen to buy one of those.

When you go to replace it, its a little easier to unbolt the rear end and slide the driveshaft off, than to take it off the engine. Once that's done, it's only a few bolts. Sorry to hear about the loss, but it could have been worse.

Shawn-
You will need a hydro pump from any of the open frame 300 series or 420/430. This gives you a lot of different tractors with the same pump. As Cliff has said, you might be able to rebuild it since parts are still available but it will be expensive.

Shawn-
They are still the same pump and differential. You will just have to switch some linkages around.
