Picked up a 322 this spring. It idles fine but rpm does not change till throttle reaches half way forward. After half way, rpm increases as it should. Now when I finished mowing Saturday pulled the throttle back and when I reached half way it died,no idle at all. Suggestions?

Thanks

Kevin, I have a 322 that does the same thing although it doesn't die when throttled back. I think its in the design as others have mentioned it here before. I haven't had the time to really try to figure it out yet. Maybe someone will have a solution.

+1 with same behavior for my 322, minus dying when throttled back. Also, I can't get mine to rev proportionally to throttle at any position. I'm pretty much idle, full throttle, and random speeds anywhere in between. I haven't looked into it further yet, either.

Same with mine. You should be able to easily set the idle speed and max throttle, but takes until about half throttle before the revs change much. I tinkered with it for a while and decided I had other stuff to work on!

Wayne,

My 322 has been in storage since we moved off the 2.3 acre property, so I am going from memory here. I do recall that there is a tendency to run primarily at idle and at governed full speed...might just be the nature of the governor on that Yanmar. I always ran the tractor at low speed when not moving (no issues with the engine heat on a water cooled engine...) and at full speed when tilling, grading, mowing or moving a front bucket full of material.

My operator's manual is a hard copy and not at my current location...but I do not see a real issue here with a lack of mid range engine speeds.
