i have a 330 , that I'm kinda puzzled with.
My father-in-law has pretty much gone thru this tractor , but we are having issues with the front pto . The problem seems to be hanging up , when the switch is off the front of the pro is dragging like its engaged.Ive gapped it to 0.18 . its smoking the belt as it works, shut off the switch and the belt stops. I tool the helot off and try to turn the pto in the off position and it drags. What am I missing?

Sounds like the bearing in the PTO is locking up , and needs to be replaced . Easy-Peazy job , and the bearing can be bought from a bearing supply house or John Deere , I think still has them available . Common symptom on a 25 Y.O. machine .

FYI - The pto has a brake function as well , so a light drag is normal, but only between the rotor and the disc , not to the engine driven bearing inner hub .

Ill take the PTO off , and check that, if thats all it is , yeah easy fix, thanks

Dave , thought id let you know , Ive replaced the bearing , put a new J D belt on the drive, I started it up and let it run 2 separate times for 10 minutes. There was NO problems. Id test mow it but as of lately between work and rain, i haven't had the chance , but i think you were right on the monkey, Thanks
