The 318 and 332 hoods are the same part number.

I was sold a 317 hood and told it fit the 318.

I was given a 212 hood and told it fit the 332.

The 212 and 317 are the same part number and the 318 and 332 are the same part number.

The hoods look the same 2 different people have insisted they fit each other.

Can anyone verify or deny this?

I have a hood dilemma going on. I have 2 good hoods with 212 and 317 decals. And I have 2 crappy hoods with 318 and 332 decals. All I need is one good 332 hood out of this. :0P

I have someone willing to work on the hoods in the evenings but I don't want to waste money on the bad ones if the 212 or 317 will fit.

Thanks

Alan,

The closed frame tractor hoods (317 and similar) have a different front headlight lens treatment than the later open frame hoods where the headlight lens wraps slightly around each corner. This of course makes a 318/332 hood decal too short to properly fit a 317 hood a the front corner.

Maybe I have some pictures: Here is a side view of a 317 showing the bumble bee decal going all the way to the front corner.

And here are some 322 hoods that have the headlight lens showing at the front side corners.

...and here is a similar view of a 318 also showing the lens at the front corner:

I have never played with the hinge hardware on these hoods to see if they can transplant between series, but I expect it could be made to work mechanically -- it is the aesthetics of the decals and the different look that concerns me most.

I'm quite sure the hoods can interchange as far as fitting on the tractor. The difference is the light lens. On the older ones it's not quite as wide as the hood, while on the newer ones the light lens actually wraps around the corner of the hood. This affects decal length. A 318 decal on a 317 hood will be short.

Edit: I had not seen Chuck's post.

Thanks guys. That answers it perfectly. I had a guy over this morning to looks at my original 332 hood. I said we MAY be able to use the other hoods if necessary but he is confident he can repair the original hood and paint it to look like new.

We will see I guess!

Anyone wanna buy a 317 or 212 hood?

They will fit just fine, but like everyone said the headlights are different.

As far as fixing. If someone is good with fiberglass anything can be done. Seen a couple on here where the end was OEM finish but the start-was like a tree fell on the hood.
