I broke one of the ears off the three point attachment to the axle housing. I've got a good one and am trying to replace it. The hub/brake drum isn't coming off. Do I have to get a puller to get it off, or can I just persuade it with a hammer? Anyone that can help me with this project it would be much appreciated.

Joe, you probably need a puller. I removed one a while back that needed a decent puller, and still a few moderate hammer raps on the end of the puller bolt before it would let go.

I've got a puller now and just need to get the time to work on it.

Before you go after it with a puller you might want to look in a service manual. On some of the transaxles the axle has to be taken out before the tube can come off. That means cracking the case to get at the inner end of the axle. I've had mine apart but a memory cramp is keeping me from recalling just what it took to get the axle out.
