ok switched motors do to oil every where. broke a jug on left side. had a p220g now 23 vanguard. hooking everything up but now on starter. ol one had slip on wire and battery cable new set up don't. just battery cable. so get instructions out and it's vague on what to do. s question is how do i wire it.

did the vanguard come with a seperate solenoid? The onan had a starter with the solenoid on it. The slip on wire should go to the solenoid.

no it didnt. they said at sew i didn't need it. ca i take the one off of onan to use for now?

Tom, A while back I did a 420 conversion using the Vanguard 23. Here is a link to my pics and it includes a wiring diagram that shows how to wire it up to what your tractor has. Hope this helps, Dan
