Past the factory mounts for rearward? Up you would need to shim.

What seat are you needing to adjust-- a newer replacement one?

The replacement seat pans have mounting holes that are a bit further back than the originals, which makes the mounted seat positioned quite biased toward the front of the tractor, so I drilled added holes in the flip-up plate to adjust that offset. Notice the four bolts are well rearward of the slots in the flip-up part of the suspension seat mechanism...

The suspension seat mechanism does ride a bit higher than the flat spring style (particularly flat springs that are 3 decades old...)

Suspension is nice. I have one on my 430 and my 420 has a c spring one. I enjoy the 430 more with its nicer seat. I am 6ft so the extra leg room is nice.

I have seen some put a spacer between seat pan and spring and another that added in a second spring set under the originals

Tractor supply has some seats too but you would have to make a mount for them.

Lee,
I moved my seat back by cutting some off the bottom half of the "C" springs,
moving them back and drilling new holes in the fenderdeck.
I then added 2 coil springs for support (JD M89540 about $8 each).
This gave me about 2" more belly room and the seat still clears the gas tank fill neck.
Downside, the seat position is no longer adjustable fore and aft.

What im going to do is weld a piece to the mounting plate and drill new holes. I have taken measurements and this will not have issues with the filler neck. I will let you know how this turns out. Thanks to all.

The springs (u shaped part) are heat treated to make them springy. Welding will make the brittle and may lead to cracking.

if you move the seat back on the springs, it will bottom out quicker on bumps

I ended up moving the seat back 2.5" and putting two coil springs in the back. FYI, My local Kubota dealer didn't have the JD springs in stock(they were a JD dealer), but found some Kubota springs for $ 4.00 each. Thanks for the help.
