Not sure if I have the right parts or not? I can see where the side panels secure to the dash tower, but uncertain how they secure forward. Looks like the front of the side panel tucks in behind the hood/grill support but maybe there is a spring that holds both together at the front hole............or another bracket I'm missing? Help is much appreciated and/or part numbers or pictures. Thank you.

Just one bolt and then front rests on a ledge basically.

there is a speed nut/ clip nut on the tractor that you put a bolt into

The speed nut / clip is at the top of the panel cutout. Here's a picture from a recent thread...

You can get this speed clip from any home improvement store in the nuts and bolts section.

Oops - I should have said the speed clip / nut is the same for both side panels.

Sorry guys. I was talking about the front securing at the grill. Is there only one screw which holds each side?

On my 316 onan (same era/family as 420) the side panels just slip behind the uprights for the grill/hood and are secured with only the one bolt back on the dash tower, so i would suspect yours is the same....
I had noticed some light rattling noises from mine, but after i re did my firewall foam that got rid of the movement there...

Yes one screw for each rear side. The front is squeezed in behind the front grill frame. You put the front in first at an angle than the rear.
