I have a 1988 420 that had no spark, so I put in a new ignition module had spark and it started right up. Drove around a while and shut it off, came back a little while later and it won't start spark is very weak. I have power on the + side of the coil when key is on, but I also have power on the - all the time when key is on and it does not pulsate when turning over so would the coil be bad or what do I have going on

take a look at your points, might have a bad pit the is shorting them out. use some emory cloth to clean them up and order a set of points if it runs after

this is a p220 it has no points I should have mentioned that in first post.

no pulse means your pick up or ignition module issue. might be a loose connection since you were in there working on it

Did you replace both the fixed piece and rotating part? I seem to remember something about should replace as set.
