I recently have had to replace the Hydro in my 430.
When I was reviewing the procedure in the service manual I came across the comments about the old style cross member with 2 bolts and the newer design with one.
When I took mine apart I discovered I had the single bolt style cross member. I was surprised to discover this since my 430 was produced in 1985. This made me curious so I went to JDParts site to see where the cut off between "Old" and "New".
When I looked at the diagram I discovered a shoulder bolt was specified to attach the cross member to the diff. Like a good JD customer I ordered the bolt.
I don't have things together yet but, as I am installing it I discovered the new bolt is long enough it doesn't appear that I am going to be able to tighten the cross member to the differential.
Do I tighten the bolt until it bottoms out and run with this loose or am I looking at this wrong?
