I recently got 430 to go with my 112H. There's a couple questions I have after changing all fluids and belts.

The high/low will not shift. It's in the right most position and I can't get it to move left. Is the best thing to check the detent spring?

How much hydro noise is to be expected? Going slow it whines and slows down going up hills (slight inclines) and I have to push the lever forward to get it to pull itself up. Hyd oil is in center of sight tube.

Side note: changing alternator belt is awful!

Thanks

does it shift with engine off?

I usually have to fiddle a bit to get it not to move before it will shift in to neutral or other gear

noise could be low on fluid or getting air in from somewhere. the rubber hose with weather cracks can do this. or even a loose hose clamp

slow up hill an fast down is a sign of worn linkage. many times is an easy fix once you find what is worn. even a 1/32 of wear on one part can get it to do this. my 430 is worn but I only have a slight hill so not worried about it much.

You have to pull back or push down on the knob, cant just go from one side to the other.

The hydro need to be "unloaded" so you may need to move the speed lever a little off of neutral if you have some hydro creep. And have the tractor on a flat surface.

If that doesnt work, try it on a flat surface with the engine off.

I find it easier to stand on the right side of the tractor-pull the lever to the back and then go to the side you need. On the tractor tends to be much harder to do that with the angle my arms are put in.
