Well - here goes...

430 (s/n 36,xxx) has been running great (640 hrs) until last night.

I was starting to mow on a small hill and moved to the edge of the seat to counter-balance and she quit. (Darn safety features! LOL)

I turned off the mower PTO and started back up just fine. As soon as I move the hydro lever she quits. I was able to put my finger on the microswitch and hold it down to drive the mower back to level ground.

Now, I can start the mower fine EXCEPT:
when I move the hydro lever, and / or engage either the front or rear PTO...and none of the dash indicator lights come on regardless of key position.

When I turn the key on, the fuel pump ticks and then I can start up without any difficulty - it just quits when I try to drive it !

Anyway, I have looked at the manual (I have the big gray and tan one) and found the one thing in common to all of the circuits is the TDC module.

Has anyone else had a problem with this? JD wants 175.00 for a new one so if anyone out there has bought one only to find out it was something else, I would like to hear from you!

Oh my...upon CLOSER inspection - it was the 10 amp fuse that had blown.
Everything is back to normal but I will keep an eye out for that.
Anytime that a fuse blows, there may be an underlying reason for it....

Cool - thanks, guys.

It has been running so good that I didn't want to do anything to it, though! (ain't broke - don't fix it kind of thing, ya know)

One of the things I have seen on the various threads covering diesel electrical issues is the vibration. I have on my 'list of things to do' pulling all the connectors apart, spraying some no-residue electrical contact cleaner in them and maybe lightly scraping any corrosion off the plugs and pins.
