So I went to start the 430 today, and it didn't fire, the battery died right off, I opened the hood to hook up a charger to get by until I can get a battery, and saw what looked like leaking fuel. Its coming out of what I think is the injector pump. It's coming out of the bottom of the fitting to the center injector line. The connections on both sides have visible o-rings, but this one looks like it's in deeper. Being my first diesel problem, I figured I'd ask where to start without tearing into it blindly.

Looks like that nipple is part of the injector pump. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the base, and not the injector line.

$1170 at jd, 400 used online.

Can those be rebuilt?

The part number on the o-rings between the nipples and the pump is M87979. There are some copper crush washers that are under there too. The washers are part number M87846. Make sure you clean the surrounding area and apply some penetrating oil on the lines and fittings. Take the nipples out slow because there is a valve and spring under them.

When you replace the orings-there is a spring/plunger under the nipple. Jack the left side of the tractor up till it is straight up/down. Then it will go together nicely. Otherwise it could be a battle. Cheap and easy fix.

Jason and Travis, Thank You both for the part numbers and hints. The grand Total is $6.60, for 3 sets, that is a number I don't mind. Ill update everyone when the parts come in. I plan on only replacing the center one, unless I need to remove an end one to get access.

Well, the second try, and lots of lint free q-tips,and the leak is gone. I blead about a quart out of the filter, no bubbles. Then bled another quart out the bleeder on the injector pump. The air came out in the first cup or so, then ran clean.

I blew off the tractor to dry the fuel, and it cranked over it spun about 10 times before the battery died off. Its recharging now, but is there more bleeding that needs to be done, like the injector lines?

I plan to get a new battery, once the tractor is running again, it seemed adequate, but less then optimal.

The 430 is back.

Replaced the battery, just because the battery shop was closing at noon, until Monday. Got a 2nd for $50, instead of the $65 I usually spend. The tractor fund was empty after getting the 140 loader and 445 this week.

Rebled the pump, no air.

Cracked the two lines I had off, and it started to sputter after they bled.

Still wouldn't catch. Rebled the center injector line, and it fired off. I turned it off, tightened the line. Blew off the diesel again. Fired it back up and moved it outside. It smoothed out in seconds. I let it just start to get warm again, and shut it off to let the hottest areas dry more. No leaks on the pump still.

Time for a victory beverage.

Now I have to clean the garage a bit more to make room for the 140, I had to leave it outside last night, because this and the 445 were blocking both doors and down.

I have a 430 that is leaking fuel at the injection pump by the lines. It look to be leaking under the the plate that bolts to the pump and the line thread into. Any info on this?

Thanks
Leaking around the metal lines at the pump? There is an o-ring under the fittings, that the metal lines thread onto. I would pull the lines, and replace all three, then bleed/start. There are springs and shims under the fittings, so use a little caution in case they stay in the fittings. Just put things back as you found them. The springs aren't loaded either, so they shouldn't go flying.

I'm not sure if Deere has them (I bet they do), but I used some that I had in a HF kit.

I think the 430 is pretty similar to the 332 I use/work on.

I will check again, but it looks like its leaking under the mount plate that the lines thread into and not the lines.
Thanks for the reply
From what I see based on your description I believe there is a shim JDAM100747 that goes under the plate (Injection pump) you are referring to. Not sure what material the shim is made of but that could be the source of your leak. Check the nuts that secure the injection pump first to see if they are torqued properly.
