Hi all,

I found a 430 about 200 miles away from me. The seller said it has 2300+ hours on it. My question: Is that close to the end of it's useful life? I know a lot depends on how it was maintained but I'm looking for in general for the engine, hydro and trans, is that a lot?

Look for major leaks, see how it starts cold (if real rough may be low on compression or need injector work), Drive it and see how loose/sloppy everything feels. Does it look like it was stored in doors, or is it all rusty and crusty.

If the price is right, even if you found something major wrong after you owned it, there is a ton of money in parts on a 430 that is parted out.

my 430 has over 2700 hours and runs strong

I have heard you can get 5000 - 7500 if maintained well.

I've got about 2650 on my 430, Dad has 2300 on his 332. Both start strong down to the single digits, and have tons of power in the tall grass. My local diesel shop said they should run 5-6k hours before needing overhaul if maintained correctly and not abused. I wouldn't worry about the hydro either. Unless you tow one or drop it off a truck, it should outlast the engine.

Hi All,

Went to see the 430 today. After talking to the owner for some time and seeing the care and pride he has for his equipment I didn't haggle and agreed to his asking price. The hydro linkage needs at least an adjustment and possibly some new parts but other than that, I really couldn't find anything wrong. It comes with a 60" deck, high lift hydraulic MCS, a 4 way front blade, a bunch of tow behind implements, owners, service manuals, all receipts/papers, tire chains, 6 suitcase weights, 2 different front weight bars, a 3 point cat 0 hitch and the cutest little weight box for it.

Now I need to find a 420 to go along with my new friend.....

Sure looks like a sweet package!! We have around 500 hours on the one, and 1700 hours on the other...so well I can not speak to one going 5000-7500 hours personally -- I would not be surprised if they did. The key like anything is maintenance. With that it should be a purchase that will serve you well a long time. I love the hydro dump MCS...always wanted one...never got one. We have a 519 and deck run power flow for the one...not nearly as handle as that hydro dump. Congrats!
