I exploded both the ring and pinion gears on my #49 snowblower. I was able to purchase another #49 snow blower and I'm going to assume it's probably an older version as it has a 3-bolt gearbox versus my 4-bolt gearbox on the trashed #49. On my newly purchased #49 there are two fluid level plugs on the front cover plate. Again I
I'll assume that this older version is filled with gear oil rather than Cornhead grease. Is there a particular oil that fellow JD#49 owners use that they can recommend? Thanks in advance. Mike
